Gasherbrum II-Broad Peak 2006
(08.06.2006)
(K2Climb.net) The Dutch Karakoram Expedition's members departed the Netherlands yesterday for Islamabad. They are going for a double header this season: GII and Broad Peak.
Reinier Zuidhoff is the leader of this 4 man-strong team (his name was, by the way, wrongly spelled in the official climbing permit list).
Take time on G2 for a fast push on Broad
First stop for the expedition will be Gasherbrum II, which they will climb in traditional style.
Once acclimatized after reaching the summit of GII, the Dutch plan to move to Broad Peak hoping to complete its normal route through a fast, single push.
Dutch Karakoram Expedition 2006 members are Reinier Zuidhoff (54), Jelle Egas (42), Folkert Bloembergen (46), and Menno Frantzen (43). This summer they hope to attempt GII and Broad Peak.
Reinier has taken part in previous expeditions on Everest, Cho Oyu, Shisha Pangma, and Makalu. Folkert has been on Cho Oyu. All members have climbed peaks over 5000 meters in Nepal, the Andes, and Africa – each has over 20 years of alpine climbing experience.
