"Forty years old Lafaille, who has already scaled 14 peaks higher than 8,000 meters successfully, is out of contact since Jan. 27 after reaching to a height of 7,600 meters on peak at Sankuwasabha district, some 300kms east of Kathmandu," the radio said.
It was informed during a press conference organized here by his wife Mrs. Lafaille in association with French Embassy on Monday, the radio added.
"Missing Lafaille could not be found despite an extensive hunt carried out under the joint auspices of the French Embassy at Kathmandu and and me," Mrs. Lafaille said, adding, "There is little hope of finding him alive."
"Every effort will be made for the search and rescue of the valiant mountaineer," Michel Jolivet, French Ambassador to Nepal said at the function.
Lafaille had begun to ascend the peak from Makalu base camp on Jan. 24.
