Gerfried Goeschl & team SUMMIT Broad Peak
(21.07.2007)
(K2Climb.net/Madrid) Gerfried Goeschl has just summited Broad Peak, after climbing in reportedly difficult conditions for over 12 hours since his team left C3. The Wenzl brothers, Kilian Volken, Lukas Furtenbach and Wolfgang Kölbinger followed shortly afterwards - and further members of the 15-men strong team could be topping-out as well today.
Gerfried called his home team ten minutes ago, on the way down at 7.750m - although communication was difficult due to the strong wind hitting the mountain's upper slopes. The climber is currently descending toward C3 at 7,000m.
News is expected soon from other teams also pushing for BP's summit - Carlos Soria's expedition among them.
